Bionic Boom: Comfort and control redefined
The newly developed Bionic Boom is unique in the wing market in many ways. Its ergonomic curve combines the precision of a boom with the comfort of handles, enabling a natural, wrist-friendly arm position. Built from a single piece of seamless carbon, it redefines stiffness, balance, and durability with its wide grip connection to the center strut. The pistol grip at the boom’s leading end provides maximum wave control — without ever having to let go.
Right from his very first session with the Halo, team rider Willow raved: “The Bionic Boom sets the Halo completely apart from every other wing. The control is so direct and intuitive that I can fully focus on my moves.”
High-tech materials in innovative construction
For the first time, the Halo introduces ExoTex HD – an even stiffer, lower-stretch Dacron. In combination with ExoTex 2, the leading edge is divided into three segments: double-layer ExoTex in the center for maximum load absorption, ExoTex HD across the span, and ExoTex 2 in the tips for a touch more flex. The result: a thinner leading edge than the XC, only slightly thicker than the Halo Pro – with noticeable stiffness at minimal weight. This is complemented by the CoreTex 2 Triple Ripstop Canopy. Thanks to radial seams, thread paths fan out toward the pressure point, reducing stretch and enhancing power, efficiency, and stability.
Refined strut geometry with significant added value
The optimized strut geometry ensures the pressure point is always easy to locate and precisely controllable. Its profile mirrors that of the Halo Pro for high speeds, while the angle to the Bionic Boom has been tuned so both arms remain fully relaxed, even under load. Slimmer tips add playful handling and effortlessly absorb gusts.
Details that make the difference
Like the XC, the Halo features windows for improved safety and visibility – both in the surf and at crowded spots. Three glass battens on each side stabilize the profile at high speeds, ensuring a clean release. For added convenience, the Halo is equipped with a minimalist deflate valve for faster pack-down and an extra-durable speed valve that maximizes airflow for quick inflation and long-term reliability.
