AWARDS AND BIG AIR WRAP-UP FROM TARIFA
The famous kitesurf hotspot of Tarifa recently witnessed some thrilling days as the GKA Big Air World Tour took place from 5th to 7th of June. Among the highlights of the event were the remarkable performances by four exceptionally talented female riders from Team CORE, leaving spectators in awe. To add to the excitement, our team made a significant impact at the prestigious GKA Awards. We are delighted to announce that our extraordinary riders achieved not one, but two remarkable victories.
A resounding shoutout goes to our phenomenal CORE riders who dominated the Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite Tarifa twin tip discipline! The powerhouse team, consisting of Jasmine Cho, Nora Klement, Zara Hoogenraad, and Angely Bouillot, delivered a spectacular show that captivated the audience.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Zara Hoogenraad for securing 3rd place and Angely Bouillot for grabbing 4th place in the Qatar Airways GKA Big Air Kite Tarifa twin tip discipline. This outstanding performance in Tarifa has propelled Angely to the third position in the world title race, while Zara has claimed an impressive 4th position. Their unwavering dedication and hard work have truly paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements. It is an exhilarating experience to have them as valuable members of our team.
CORE RIDERS DECORATED WITH TWO AWARDS
The highly-anticipated GKA Awards, held in Tarifa on June 3rd, celebrated the sport's finest athletes. The event recognized their exceptional achievements and contributions across 10 categories. With an impressive seven nominations in four categories, featuring five remarkable CORE riders, we left an indelible mark.
ZARA HOOGENRAAD
Zara Hoogenraad clinched the prestigious "Move of the Year" award with her awe-inspiring massive late back kiteloop during the Lords of Tram in France. In perfect conditions, she executed the loop with her XR prototype, delivering an electrifying performance that left the crowd breathless. Zara's exceptional skills on the water are matched by her unwavering passion for the sport, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing more of her extraordinary maneuvers.
GABRIEL BENETTON
At the youthful age of 18, Gabriel Benetton made a remarkable impact, securing three GKA podium finishes in four competitions he participated in. He made his debut in last year's strapless freestyle competition in Tarifa, securing an impressive 3rd place. In the overall surf ranking, he achieved a commendable 5th position. Gabriel's infectious smile during his sessions adds to his charm, and we eagerly await more outstanding performances from this talented young rider.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our exceptional riders and nominees, Angely Bouillot, Therese Taabbel, and Erick Anderson, for their passion and unwavering dedication. We encourage them to continue pushing boundaries and spreading their stoke for the sport.
FULL POWER TARIFA, POWERED BY CORE
Despite the initial excitement and anticipation, the first stop of the BAKL, scheduled from April 25th to May 25th, faced an unforeseen challenge. Riders and organizers patiently waited for optimal conditions, but Mother Nature had other plans. For the first time in BAKL history, the event had to be postponed due to an unusual lack of wind in Tarifa.
However, we have great news! Full Power Tarifa is back on the calendar, promising an adrenaline-fueled event rescheduled from September 15th to October 30th. Save the dates and prepare for action.
