The all-new Fusion 5 LWs may share the same name as their smaller siblings but they share little else. We’ve learned you simply can’t upsize the smaller Fusions. Sit them side by side and you'll see major differences between them. That’s because we tune our LW’s specifically for lighter wind conditions.

Our 5th generation LWs feature new construction, rails, outline, and hulls. But they still retain the same Cartan carbon that makes these super-light 3kg boards come alive. The most visible difference between its smaller siblings is the unique displacement hump in the middle of the deep vee. We also added a grab rail for the freestylers. And we improved the channels, edges, and outline for the freeriders. Read on to explore all the new details.

Unbelievably agile and light on its feet. We like to think of the 154er as a hybrid with class-leading light wind handling and the freestyle capability of a 145er. It's perfect for anyone who needs a confidence boost and heavier riders who enjoy unhooking in light winds. Its Multi-Channels, Vario rails, and modified keel will give freestylers the edge control, response, and woohoos every time you pull on your backhand. Throw in a 12m XR7 and you're off to the moon!

INCREDIBLY CONFIDENT

Large FUSION 5 LW (159 x 47 cm)

The ultimate early planer and lightwind rocket with huge range. Our biggest Fusion 5 sports a concave board outline (like a snowboard) and a performance window that touches 7 knots. The concave outline, increased flex, and square box rails improve upwind tacks by forcing the board to ride deeper and flatter in the water. Wider tips promote early planing and keep you going through lulls. The sidecut Fusion 5 LW feels much smaller underfoot so it has the potential to handle more wind than you would normally expect.

The new bulbous Vee reduces drag in displacement cruise to get you up on a plane earlier than ever.

Exclusive to CORE.

Our proprietary 30° biaxial carbon fiber layup optimizes torsion and flex. Our made-to-order 30° biaxial carbon fiber has more flex along the length of the board and less flex between the toe and heel. Cartan carbon's unique high filament count also requires less resin which saves weight. Enjoy improved pop, softer landings, and extreme durability with Cartan.

Unibody Edge New!

High-end racing ski sidewall technology finds its way to twintips. An industry first and more expensive foil, carbon, and thermoset resin process massively improve the connection between the top and bottom Cartan carbon for a true unibody build. We replaced the previous ABS plastic edge strip that joins the top and bottom carbon sheets with a new 80 layer, laminated, resin-activated strip that is much harder, stiffer, and better bonding. The new edge improves torsional rigidity, stores, and releases more energy than before.

A massive double concave center channel and a smaller outer channel follow the length of the board provide extra depth for the V-Keel and incredible grip. In addition to the center channel, we added Quattro tip channels. Freestylers can load their edges more than ever. And freeriders will enjoy how well the Fusion 5 LW tracks upwind.

 

Lighter 3D Wood Core | Fusion 5 Twintip Kite Board

LIGHTER 3D WOOD CORE New!

Powerfully light, marine-grade, laminated wood core. All wood has natural variation in density and volumetric weight. We now select the lowest weight laminations before gluing them together. In doing so, the specially selected, long-grained Paulownia wood is 250g lighter and just as strong as the last generation. It gives our boards dimensional stability, decay resistance, and a lightweight yet distinctively powerful character. The Paulownia extends towards the board edges and is CNC milled both top and bottom.

The perfect combo between tip flex and stiffness. You’ll notice that we continue the same contours of the bottom tip channel into the top deck, which now resembles a Katana sword. The new contours add tip stiffness to better store and release the energy you generate loading the edge.

BEVELED DECK New!

The Fusion 5 LW features a 6-degree beveled deck edge from tip to tip that nicely blends into the Katana channels. The bevel decreases longitudinal flex for more pop, reduced reverse flex, and more powerful edging. Now we’re talking!

Tucked Under Rails New!

The board features a tucked under bottom rail between the straps that transitions to a box edge near the outer inserts. From there, the rail thins out to a sharper edge at the tips. The tucked under rail softens the ride and improves water flow, whereas the sharper tip edges add more bite.

Inspired by the bulbous bow found on container ships, this keel reduces drag in displacement cruise, so the transition to planing is smoother. The deep V-shaped keel along the tips penetrates chop and smoothes your ride. A knee saver for sure.

A perfect balance between tracking and freestylin' magic. The impact-resistant, G10 fiberglass fins have just the right amount of tracking stability without getting too much in the way of switches.

Our basic, no-frills pad and straps set features a new strap design.

The ergonomic, shock-absorbing, footpad will give you the confidence to push your limits. The “Diamond Wedge EVA” memory foam, “toe grabber” footbed, and single Velcro strap will hold you firmly and comfortably in all conditions.

UNION PRO

Meet our Union Pro pads & straps with an improved, high-vis strap. We like the split strap design for its ridiculous customization options. It gives independent form-fitting adjustability to your forefoot and midfoot. Each half of the split straps is independently micro-adjustable with its own set of velcros. You can adjust the angle of your feet in 11 different ways to lock in your preferred stance and move your pad closer or further away from the board edge. The strap also sports 2cm of pad adjustability fore and aft to accommodate all foot sizes. We know, that’s an insane amount of customization. We just want to make sure it fits everyone.

The Union Pro also features subtle changes to materials and design. We improved the footbed densities to prevent foot slippage and increase comfort. The pad ridges encourage feet to slip in and stay put. Are these pads & straps the easiest to adjust and best fitting? We think so.

Quick on-the-fly rocker adjustment. Need less rocker for getting upwind faster? Or more rocker for your newest tricks? No problem with REVO, a clever rocker adjuster integrated into our grab handle. A quick turn of the handle activates REVO. Rocker is reduced 15mm, flattening the twintip and reducing its flex. This leads to a significant increase in planing and upwind performance.
